Client story – Growth fintech: Strategic capability built as basis for

successful fundraising

Situation

Founders of a growth fintech company had big and inspiring vision, blank canvas and lots of possibilities to innovate and deliver new services to the investment management market

Challenge

Investors were pressing for faster results and the main client was looking for deliveries in the near future. How to balance the near term with the future horizons?

Approach

Mapped elements of vision, strategic objectives, features, license to operate, design principles and desired architectural qualities to establish a rigorous base for discussion, prioritization and decision making. Continuously engaged stakeholders and translated benefits to their respective contexts to make the project relatable in a concrete way

Approach

Designated a flagship project that drew on strategic competencies while delivering core feature set requested by investors and key clients. Take advantage of this project to lay the foundation for an architecture and service delivery framework in which to make future deliveries.

Outcome

Mobilised stakeholders to assist with requirements

formulation and (crucially) quality assurance. Designated one source of the truth and had all stakeholders sign off on this. Ran extensive testing improving the quality of the dashboard data a module at a time.

Value

  • Funds raised: Significant contribution to enable founders to raise 8+ M EUR from existing and new investor

  • Revenue: Sold software solution to key client worth millions of EUR over its lifetime

  • Capability building: Route to market (crossing the chasm) and professional services component (presale and post sale)

  • Systems: Solutions architecture and new application framework (concept and roadmap delivered)
